Description: A stunning little French vintage / antique majolica wall plate with hand-coloured details in relief, the theme of the plate being the Patron Saint of France - Joan of Arc riding into battle with her banner (in French she is called Jeanne D'Arc). This wonderful decorative plate has a rich gloss finish, the glaze even being applied to the underside. Around the lightly scalloped circumference of the plate are patriotic symbols such as 'En Avant' (Go Forward), 'Honneur' (Honour) and 'Patrie' (Homeland). Condition: good used vintage / antique condition with the expected age-related wear such as crazing and underneath and out of sight a couple of manufacturing chips (see photo).
