Pair of stunning antique ironstone bird plates that over the last 100 years and more have developed a beautiful time-worn patina of age, the white plates being transformed into a pleasing warm, cream color with lots of fabulous tea-staining only time will create. The transferware pattern depicts birds and flowers in a sepia colour - so romantic and charming!
These plates are very old, the maker's mark underneath telling us they were manufactured around 1875! The way in which they have aged since that time and now have this highly desirable shabby chic finish is such a large part of their charm, and when you consider their beautiful bird patterns in sepia, they are definitely pieces of ironstone history to collect.
In summary, these plates will make eye-catching decorative pieces that look fabulous in a rustic, country, farmhouse or shabby chic setting.
