French Antique White Porcelain Broth Pot with Pewter Lid

A rare find - a French antique boullion container or "Pot de Bouillon" which is a broth pot made from heavy white porcelain with a little porcelain lid - over the top of that is a heavy pewter lid.

There are many stories about how these were originally used and for what purpose, although most people agree they were used keep soups or soup-like foods hot while to transporting them to work, say perhaps to the fields if you were a farmer.

This one is being sold as a decorative piece only.

In summary, a really wonderful piece of French history that will make an excellent piece of home decor, especially in interiors of a rustic, farmhouse or country nature.

• From 29th August 2025, new U.S.A. government tariffs on items arriving in your country from the EU came into effect - unfortunately the buyer is responsible for paying these tariffs/duties/handling fees to final delivery company/customs authority when their items are delivered or before they can be released from customs. It's also possible the delivery of items may be delayed once arriving in the USA while being processed in customs/or until tariffs/duties/handling fees are paid.

• Sadly, if a U.S. order is returned to us for non-payment of any tariffs and/or import duties/handling fees, then only the item cost will be refunded. All shipping costs and possible return duties will be deducted from the total to be reimbursed.
