Vintage Ethnic Primitive Big Cat Feline Figurine

A striking mid-20th-century West African bronze feline figurine — handmade perhaps using the traditional lost-wax method. Our research suggests this piece likely originated from a regional foundry in Benin or Burkina Faso and was perhaps crafted for the local or export market during the colonial/post-colonial era.
With its stylized features, upright stance, and circular surface motifs, the sculpture recalls guardian animals from Benin and Yoruba traditions.
The aged patina, textured surface, and small casting imperfections all speak to its hand-cast origin and long life.
