An antique decorative earthenware oval medium-sized platter with a glazed pale blue finish, a traditional Rouen or Forges-les-Eaux piece commonly known as a 'cul noir' plate due its dark brown glazed back side.
A beautiful piece of history, the scallop edged plate has the characteristic crackle glaze, a hand-painted flower basket centre motif, and stylized geometric borders - just beautiful for collectors, farmhouse, cottage, country home, or rustic-inspired interiors!
