Large Antique Ironstone Jug Pitcher

A stunning and large antique ironstone pitcher in white with a rare lavender colour decorative pattern. This jug would have once been used to carry water for washing yourself and these days is suitable as a decorative item and will make an eye-catching piece in any interior.

There is a diamond pattern mark underneath the pitcher which is usually a British design registry mark - these marks were used by the British Patent Office between the years of 1842 and 1883 to record and protect ornamental designs.

Origin : Most likely England
Period :  1842 and 1883
Materials : ironstone/earthenware

Dimensions :
Height: approx.  31.5 cm (approx. 12.5 '')
Width at widest point: approx. 20 cm (approx. 8 '')

Condition: very good used antique with minor age-related wear and a very slight hair line around the bottom of the handle where it joins the jug (see photo) - this is not damage and being such as old jug is caused by time and is really nothing.

As this wash pitcher is very heavy I advise the new buyer to holder the jug around the main body, and not by the handle as a precaution. Sold as decorative piece for display only.

As photos are part of our description please review them all carefully before purchase.
